Mike and I went up and camped at “Schmerker’s Folly” (since Jeff Schmerker gave away this amazing area instead of keeping it a secret!) near Lincoln, Montana and the Scapegoat Wilderness on Sunday, April 10th. Liz, Katt, Mike and I camped out the night before next to the creek, praying for no nocturnal grizzly visits! A great campfire and good times with great friends!
We skinned up the ridge between Cotter and Copper creeks, finding excellent corn around noon and some “crazy looking” locals (see photos). Skied within 100 yards of road; needs another 1-2 weeks and it should be prime time, fellas and fellarinas!
This is one of my favorite backcountry areas and it is less than two hours from Missoula!
